OSYO

Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestras program provides an excellent musical education, enables youth to realize their potential and enriches their lives. Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestras (OSYO) is a subsidiary of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and consists of a high school orchestra to early college age (9th grade to age 21), and middle school orchestra (OSYO-Cadet Orchestra).

Goals:

  • To provide opportunities for Tri-state public and private school students to perform orchestral music.
  • To educate students to pursue high standards in performance of this music.
  • To cultivate young talent and to enrich these students as both performers and listeners.
  • To assist, stimulate, and encourage schools in their development of instrumental music programs.
  • To function as community outreach, sparking interest in orchestral music in the Tri-state and beyond.

Benefits:

  • Rehearsals led by Owensboro Symphony Orchestra (OSO) Assistant Conductor, Tom Stites.
  • Sectional rehearsals conducted by professional musicians.
  • Attend rehearsals and sometimes perform with Owensboro Symphony Orchestra (Side-By-Side Concerts).
  • OSYO Rehearsals at Owensboro Symphony Academy (OSA) and concerts at local churches and RiverPark Center's Cannon Hall.
  • OSYO Weekend Retreat.
  • Master Class opportunities
  • Small ensemble (Chamber Music) opportunities.
  • Touring to provide music to outlying areas and collaboration with other performing ensembles.

What's Expected:
